PROVIDING STATIONERY TO 1300 UNDERPREVILAGED RURAL STUDENTS

by SPPDINDIA

Summary

Comprehensive Stationery Support for Vulnerable Children of physically challenged, HIV-infected, single parents, including destitute women, widows, and drunkards, in District of Tamil Nadu.

Challenge

Many of these children come from households facing significant hardship: they are often children of single parents, widows, and individuals affected by HIV, alcoholism, and disability. Due to the lack of stable income, some families experience forced migration in search of employment, leaving children in precarious living situations. In addition, many of these children endure malnutrition, limited access to healthcare, and challenges with educational continuity.  For example, children still lack access to everyday items such as pens, erasers, bags, and even footwear. When they lose these items, the burden often falls on single mothers or other caregivers who are financially incapable of replacing them.

The absence of these small but essential items takes a toll on the children’s mental well-being and concentration in school. Without access to tuition or extra academic support due to family financial constraints, these children find it even more challenging to keep up. The strain on single mothers and caregivers is significant, as they often cannot afford to purchase replacement items when needed, further impacting the children’s ability to focus on learning.

Solution

This project seeks to bridge these gaps by providing the necessary school supplies for children, fostering an environment where they can concentrate on their studies without additional worries. These seemingly minor provisions can contribute meaningfully to their mental and emotional health, boosting their confidence and overall academic performance.

  • 1300 children studying in grades 6 to 12

How Your Donation Will Be Used

This project aims to address the critical educational needs of 1300 vulnerable children in the Tiruchirappalli and Pudukkottai districts, ensuring they have access to the essential school supplies required for their academic success. By focusing on children from single-parent households, families affected by HIV or disability, and those living in poverty, the project provides a lifeline for children who otherwise face significant barriers to education. Through the provision of necessary supplies, we not only alleviate the financial burden on caregivers but also foster a positive learning environment that promotes mental well-being, academic engagement, and improved self-esteem.

The kit consists of Note books, pen, pencil, eraser, sharpener, scale, geometry box, etc.

Cost per beneficiary: INR 550 per child
